resisted all he could

this work moved me as it should, while at laguna beach witnessing a black man playing volleyball the seed was planted in my head. I would be scullpting from his well built physique, as with a relief you have a sculpture popping out of a flat surface much like a coin does portrays our past presidents. This figure was before my eyes taking form with well defined musculature and a story was telling, his arms would indicate he is being led in a chain gang . the face has evidence of bruising from a prior fight as he put up resistance against his abductors. to complete the setting I added tall grasses in the background and the color of the clay highly suggestive in its dark choclate buttery smooth texture.
it is my hope to one day have a large bronze of this work placed in a public park so it may move people and never let them forget how precious freedom is.

I urge you to check out prior entries under different months up at the top in yellow boxes, your kind feedback will be appreciated
