Today I am proud to have the priviledge to have carved this fabulous stone. As my friend Joanne Duby once said , it is better than eating choclate staring at me smiling if you know what I mean. So this is not a close up of a tooth as many would deduce, instead it is a view of my figure from the back looking up. the light scatters in the translucent stone and echoes in its way , the light area up center is the back of the left breast and below is her tush. I suppose it is difficult to keep the sculptor separate from the dentist and vice versa, both are in the same mind and hands.
For the last time, this tribute to surviving breast cancer is now laid to rest. it has posessed me for two years and I have expressed it in many ways short of a dozen, and in various mediums sketches on paper to clay and inn wax then molten bronze and at last in this lovely stone.
I am honored to have voiced my feelings although not in words as with poetry Dad, a passionate writer and poet, my poetry seems to have sweat, dust, fire and way more emotion in it.
May all of our Fathers feel our love and gratitude this coming Fathers day; as men we would not be half the men we are today if it were not for the love and big arms that ushered us into this life. A big thank you Dad for who you are and all that you have done for us.
