window onto the world

as with many happy accidents, this work stopped me in my tracks and challanged me to stop and reflect.  while in the midst of hollowing out this clay work of art I came too close to the surface and perforated the smooth outer contour.  our intention in hollowing out a terra cota piece is to allow for even thickness and all around drying for better firing in the kiln.
when I hastily scored the perforation in an attempt to repair it with slip, a watered down clay glue we use to join to older dried clay, I paused and said no wait a minute.  there is a message here and it is somewhat disturbing to the onlooker yet my goodness as a great friend used to always say, this is the window onto the world through which all of humanity has climbed out of and onto the world stage.  and thanks to our mothers on this dear mothers day fast approaching we are given life and nourishment for those nine months and seventeen years that follow.
please, respect all of my good intentions and look far past the obvious when gazing at such art work

I do recomend you see prior entries up listed under previous months in yellow tabs
